The Sunderland GP Alliance, a not-for-profit collaboration of GP practices in Sunderland, is holding a recruitment open evening for pharmacists on 19th September 2019 6pm to 8pm, The Stadium of Light, Sunderland.
The five-year framework for GP contract reform provides funding for a number of additional roles in primary care including Clinical Pharmacists, who will work across the new Primary Care Networks in a pioneering role across Sunderland.
Jon Twelves added, “The recruitment of these additional pharmacy roles will build on the Sunderland GP Alliance pilot scheme and will be embedded within Primary Care Networks, where staff will benefit from an attractive employment package that includes robust and established clinical supervision and support with a wide range of development and career advancement opportunities.”
The new roles are a fantastic opportunity, offering a career in pharmacy in general practice providing an opportunity to work as part of an established and supportive team to develop greater clinical skills in a patient facing role, including opportunities to gain independent prescriber status.
Over the last four years, Sunderland GP Alliance has been committed to improving services for patients and staff by creating access to GPs on evenings and weekends, supporting multi-disciplinary team working for the most unwell patients and by piloting Clinical Pharmacists in the General Practice sector, obtaining runner up status in the Primary Care Pharmacy Team of the year.
Jon Twelves, Chief Executive of Sunderland GP Alliance commented, “This is an exciting time for the city and our residents as we continue to build on our ambitions and experience to provide better health for Sunderland by working collaboratively to provide joined up health and social care.”
