We are well into year one of our 4 year NHS England Clinical Pharmacy Pilot, we currently calculate cost savings to the NHS system realised through the current pilot, these savings are based on a recognised grading system and monetary value attached, for the interventions which the pharmacists have made.
These interventions are in addition to the MO work-plan and help demonstrate the value of a clinical pharmacist within a GP Practice.
Cost avoidance: 1st submission Q2 (Jul – Sept 16): £50,785 – £110,150
Cost avoidance 2nd submission Q3 (Oct – Dec 16): £323,382 – £707,768
NHS England has released phase 2 of the clinical pharmacy pilot and applications need to be in place in early February. If your practice is keen to develop a clinical pharmacist role please express interest to Megan or Tracey at the Alliance.
To support the planning for 2017/18 the CCG ran a meeting for pilot practices to ask for feedback for 17/18 medicines optimisation workplan an email has been circulated for information and a survey monkey is available to feedback your views.
