With the on-going success of the Carer Start PN programme we are delighted to inform you that we are planning to run a 2nd programme early September 2017.
The 2-year programme consists of a cohort of 10 PNs who will work within practices whilst undertaking an academic qualification.
The programme’s purpose is to provide an opportunity for qualified nurses to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a practice nurse which will support sustainability by enabling General Practice in Sunderland to grow the practice nursing team workforce.
The programme will benefit host practices by providing an extra member of staff, with fully funded training costs and a substantial contribution to their salary costs, to join their practice nursing team with the added benefit of supporting the development of practice nurse mentorship skills and mix.
We are now looking to recruit host practices to work with the successful Career Start applicants, to give them the best possible start to their developing careers.
A recent round of recruitment has been very successful with 54 applications received, interviews are planned for the 21st and 22nd June.
If you are interested in becoming a host practice and/or you would like more information about the programme please contact Jayne McQuillan Lead Nurse Career Start Programme, who will be happy to come out to your practice and discuss the programme in more detail.
